Showcasing how simple a sustainable packaging transition can be, UK headquartered sustainable flexible packaging business Eco Flexibles has helped pet multivitamin treat brand Lovimals switch its packaging to a light weight, recyclable monopolymer solution.
Looking to reduce overall waste and introduce recyclable packaging in place of its incumbent mixed-material PETand PE design, Lovimals chose Eco Flexibles to deliver a graphically impactful monopolymer flexible packaging format that combined improved sustainability credentials with exemplary performance.
Eco Flexibles supplied its digitally printed EcoFlow Pouch with PE zipper, giving Lovimals greater flexibility in minimum order quantities (MOQ) and reduced overall production waste.
Simon Buswell, Director at Eco Flexibles, commented: “We were delighted to take the lead on this fantastic packaging project. Lovimals is a notable example of a brand putting sustainability at the heart of their values. The business had identified that while sustainability remains so high on the business and consumer agenda, its mixed plastic packaging wasn’t cutting it – and took action.
“We often say that sustainability never needs to come at the cost of performance, and our work with Lovimals highlights that. The tasty wellness supplement treats had to be held securely in a pack with high barrier performance and look great on-shelf. Our EcoFlow Pouch ticks every box and being digitally printed adds a new layer of agility when it comes to batch ordering.
“The pouch format has really taken off over the last couple of years due to its convenience-driven design, and that looks set to continue. Mordor Intelligence estimates a compound annual growth rate of over 5% to 2027, so we are expecting to see its popularity continue alongside the surging demand for sustainable, recyclable, and low carbon monopolymer packaging designs.”
Forming part of Eco Flexibles off the shelf range of monopolymer packaging solutions alongside bespoke designs, EcoFlow Pouch brings recyclability to one of the fastest-growing packaging formats.
Available in a wide range of designs, the single-material EcoFlow Pouch can be supplied plain or printed, in high gloss, matt or tactile finishes, and in K-Seal or Doy styles. In addition, the versatile EcoFlow Pouch features attractive rounded corners, convenient tear notches and a merchandising-friendly Euroslot.
David Ryder, Company Director at Lovimals, added: “We were delighted to work with the Eco Flexibles team on this project, switching our pouch packaging designs to recyclable monopolymer. Our subscription product range centres around pet health, and now with our redesigned packaging, we are playing our role in supporting the wellbeing of the planet too.
“By applying their expertise from the outset, the Eco Flexibles team made it simple, and the result speaks for itself. The reclose zipper and fantastic barrier strength gives practicality and performance for our customers and their four-legged friends, and the pack is now easily recyclable. We are delighted with the result. The design and quality are excellent, and the pouch now better reflects the Lovimals brand!”
