When a customer developed a new range of Bake at Home products, Eco Flexibles® worked with the company to create striking packaging that not only communicated the quality of the product, but that also supported its environmental agenda by being fully recyclable.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the challenge to pre-pack the loose Danish pastries was a priority for food safety and speed was of the essence. Delivering against such tight timelines involved using a whole new production line, new machinery and collaborative teamwork across all stakeholders.
In order to ensure we met and surpassed the customer’s expectations in terms of creating a design with both standout appeal and high functional performance, Eco Flexibles offered full technical and pre-press support.
We provided guidance and suggestions on materials and print separations, conducting various trials in order to validate the new machinery and establish correct sizing parameters. Despite the nationwide lockdown period causing significant logistical issues, we were able to commission the production line once in-situ and safely attend all the trials during the lockdown, ensuring we completed each individual task at speed to complete the project on schedule.
The final product supplied by Eco Flexibles was a surface printed mono polymer film with a matt lacquer, which could run at speed on the customer’s packing line. Our award-winning Asahi AWP flexographic printing plates were used to optimally deliver the eye-catching design. The AWP plate combines excellent density at the same time as achieving a very small minimum dot to ensure the highlight areas stand out. The unique water washable technology also eliminates the need for solvents in the plate manufacturing and washout process, helping with the environmental agenda.
With excellent collaboration across the development, design and manufacturing teams, the product was delivered on time to meet the launch into store.
What They Said
Paulina Gorska, Marketing Manager at Lantmännen: “Eco Flexibles took the time to understand what we wanted to accomplish with our new Bake at Home range packs. In what could have been a very difficult period to carry out a large-scale packaging project, they made it simple by taking the lead with guidance and testing. The packaging was delivered on time and following a successful retail launch, we are delighted with the result.
With their assistance, flexible packaging expertise and collaborative approach, we have retained the vibrancy and visual impact of our brand identity, alongside a Matt premium finish that looks great on-shelf. We are particularly pleased that our mono polymer design has been achieved with water-washable plate technology, eliminating solvents from prepress and contributing to CO2 reduction. The overall quality is outstanding and exactly what our customers have come to expect.”
