Sustainability-focused flexible packaging specialist, Eco Flexibles is celebrating after being named as one of the winners in the prestigious Digital Label & Packaging Awards 2025.
The company, which was shortlisted across multiple award categories, has been recognised for its packaging achievements and taken home the accolade of Application Excellence – Primary Packaging for the Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference Sausage Range.
Hosted on 10th July at The Kia Oval in London, the award ceremony welcomed industry players across the full spectrum of digital production to reflect and celebrate on packaging successes from the last year.
Simon Buswell, Director at Eco Flexibles, commented: “With many retailers making the move from traditional mixed material to circular packaging formats, this award is a testament to our team who have worked tirelessly over the years to simplify the switch without compromising on performance or visual appeal for our customers. Without their perceptive vision, creative thinking and passion for sustainable packaging solutions, winning the Application Excellence – Primary Packaging award would not have been possible.”
This award represents the company’s fundamental commitment to transforming how recyclable monopolymer and paper-based flexible packaging is produced at its supersite – the UK’s only integrated manufacturing facility capable of designing and producing digitally printed recyclable monopolymer and paper pouch packaging in-house.
Thanks to the company’s digital water-based inkjet Fujifilm Jet Press FP790, packaging waste is significantly reduced and delivers a significant uplift in print quality and on-shelf appearance, when compared to traditional analogue methods – a core component for achieving such award recognition in the Primary Packaging category.
In addition, the winning entry for Sainsbury’s reduced the packaging in weight by over 5 grammes per pack by digitally printing onto polyester lidding film made from 90% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. This far surpassed the quality of the graphics previously used on the heavy card sleeve and created high-impact packaging for stand-out shelf appeal.
“Our thanks go to the Digital Label & Packaging Awards for recognising our valiant team efforts across all three nominations,” continued Simon. “Achieving success at these awards means that we’re consistently proving that sustainable packaging solutions can be tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers and help them deliver outstanding results.”
