What does a normal day look like for you?
As General Manager, my day-to-day responsibilities centre around operational excellence, and ensuring that we’re not only delivering on all incoming orders, but that we’re continually improving in new ways. This is especially important in our new multi-million-pound production facility, where there are a lot of moving parts to our operations. Eco Flexibles is a business that’s not afraid to invest and innovate, and a key part of my role is ensuring we can keep pushing the boundaries of flexible packaging production in a strategic way.
One of the best aspects of working at Eco Flexibles is that, because the business is growing at a rapid pace, there’s always new opportunities to increase our efficiency and performance. In turn, this is delivering a better service to our customers, and strengthening our core message that sustainably designed flexible packaging doesn’t need to mean compromising performance, cost or efficiency.
What do you love about working at Eco Flexibles?
Joining the Eco Flexibles team, I brought more than two decades of experience in paper-based and plastic flexible packaging, so I’ve seen the industry’s evolution and can truly appreciate the fresh approach that Eco Flexibles takes. Our mission to simplify the complex topic of sustainability is changing the face of the flexible packaging industry. We’re there to support our customers both in switching incumbent mixed material packaging to mono-material alternatives, as well as creating entirely new lines with circularity factored in from the beginning.
Eco Flexibles is an ambitious business with big goals, and its continuing success shows that our approach is resonating with the market. As General Manager, it’s my responsibility to ensure that our production workflows impress just as much as our material innovation.
What excites you about the flexible packaging delivered by Eco Flexibles?
What excites me the most is the opportunity to be part of a company that is driving positive change. For us, it’s about much more than supplying flexible packaging, it’s about moving the entire industry forwards. We’re doing that both through off-the-shelf and bespoke packaging designs, and it’s a very special mission to be part of.
Around the world, there’s a lot of legislation that puts packaging sustainability under the microscope, such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the UK’s Green Claims Code and EU Green Claims Directive, as well as the EU’s latest Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). It’s a market full of complexity, but we’re working hard to make it easy for our customers.
