Eco Flexibles is celebrating the news that its recyclable flexible packaging project with fruit and nut snack brand Whitworths, has been shortlisted at The Grocer New Product & Packaging Awards 2023.
The collaboration with Whitworths resulted in the design and creation of a slick, eye-catching packaging design for its Fusions range. Now, the project has been announced as a finalist at The Grocer Awards, under the Sustainable Pack of the Year – Optimisation category.
Working closely with the Whitworths team from concept to completion, Eco Flexibles developed a fully recyclable, high-barrier performance, polyolefin monopolymer pack for the snack range. The result of the project is a vibrant, striking design that puts consumer convenience first with easy-open and re-close functions. The packaging’s structural design features an inverted stabilo format with an extended fin seal, ensuring maximum shelf impact.
This latest shortlisting follows hot on the heels of being among the finalists at the UK Packaging Awards, and the design has already received recognition at Kantar’s Product of the Year Awards 2023.
The Grocer New Product & Packaging Awards 2023 take place on 7 November at an event in London, where the Eco Flexibles team will find out if their packaging project has scooped the top prize.
Simon Buswell, Director at Eco Flexibles, said: “We are delighted to reveal another shortlisting for our Fusions packaging project with Whitworths. At Eco Flexibles, we take a fresh approach to packaging design because we want to re-write the sustainability rulebook and tip the balance back in the favour of brands.
“By conceptualising, designing and validating the Fusions packaging design through testing and accreditation, we show how a true end-to-end partner should work. With each new accolade and shortlisting, we’re showing that our approach works, and we’re excited to see our business continue thriving.”
