Eco Flexibles has been shortlisted for The Grocer New Product and Packaging Awards 2024. The company’s collaborative project with fruit and nut snack brand Whitworths, the ‘Mission Nutrition’ range, has been recognised in the Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year category.
Specialising in helping brands transition from mixed-material flexible packaging to recyclable monopolymer and paper-based alternatives, Eco Flexibles offers end-to-end services. The shortlisted Whitworths project, comprising a mono polyolefin structure, showcases the company’s expertise in creating eye-catching, recyclable packaging that combines recyclability with performance.
The project demonstrates how digital inkjet technologies, backed by leading design expertise, can rapidly accelerate many of the classic industry pain points and roadblocks, such as proofing, adjustments and approval, to deliver an entirely new level of production agility.
Simon Buswell, Director at Eco Flexibles, said: “We’re thrilled to be shortlisted for this award; it’s a true testament to the ingenuity and expertise of our team. Our collaboration with Whitworths shows how with the right partner in place, recyclable flexible packaging excellence can be achieved without compromising on visual appeal or functionality.”
This nomination is the latest in a series of shortlisting achievements for Eco Flexibles at the UK Packaging Awards and the Digital Labels & Packaging Awards.
A key factor in Eco Flexibles’ success has been bold investment in future-ready technology at its multi million-pound production site, including the Fujifilm Jet Press FP790. The first installation of the machine outside Japan, this water-based inkjet digital press has set new standards in sustainable flexible packaging production.
“Our recent slew of award nominations reflect how we’re pushing the boundaries of sustainable flexible packaging,” added Simon. “We’re anticipating future needs and developing solutions that keep our clients well ahead of the curve. That’s the Eco Flexibles way.”
The Grocer New Product and Packaging Awards, celebrating innovation in the UK FMCG sector, will be held on November 8th at Wembley Stadium, London, where the Eco Flexible team will find out if its flexible packaging innovation will scoop top honours.
