Pouching

UK pouch manufacturing, from artwork to finished pouch.
Demand for flexible packaging pouches is growing fast, and it's easy to see why. Convenience, shelf presence and a lightweight footprint, all in one pack.
Getting one made, though, is rarely so simple. The typical pouch project passes through a designer, a repro house, a printer, a laminator and a converter. Five suppliers, five sets of lead times, five hand-offs.

Eco Flexibles does it all. From our 40,000ft² production site in Northampton, pre-press and design, digital and flexographic print, lamination, slitting and pouch conversion all sit in the same building, run by the same team. This makes us the only supplier in the UK able to design, manufacture and supply fully recyclable, water-based printed mono polymer and paper pouches from end to end.

Very few flexible packaging manufacturers can take a project from the first artwork file through to finished recyclable pouches on a pallet. That end-to-end control is what shortens your lead times, holds your colour and reduces your project management to a single conversation. At the heart of it are our Fujifilm Jet Press FP790 digital presses and Karlville Swiss pouching lines.

Pouch Manufacturing FAQs

In-house, from start to finish. Plenty of pouch suppliers are brokers, coordinating a printer, a laminator and a converter on your behalf. We do all three ourselves at our Northampton site, alongside pre-press and design. This hands-on setup is what lets us take a project from artwork file to finished recyclable pouch without it leaving the building.

Conventional film printing uses solvent-based inks, which carry VOC emissions and a set-up process that wastes material on every changeover. Our Fujifilm Jet Press FP790s print with water-based inks instead, at gravure-comparable quality, with set-up waste under 5%. It’s a cleaner process, less waste, and no visible compromise on the pack. We installed the first FP790 outside Japan and now run two.

Yes, whether that’s finished artwork from your agency, a work-in-progress file, or nothing but an idea. Our in-house pre-press centre takes what you have, optimises it for the press and proves the colour before production starts. If you’d rather we developed the artwork from scratch, we can do that too.

We hold BRCGS Packaging Grade AA certification, achieved at our first audit and maintained for three consecutive years with zero minor non-conformances at our most recent British Retail Consortium audit. Food contact compliance, seal integrity testing and colour checking run throughout production, not just at the end.
